We Love Phonics (“we”, “us”) runs welovephonics.com, a website with phonics help for parents, caregivers and teachers. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you.
- Email sign-ups. If you sign up for our free printables, we receive your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We use them to send you the printables, a short series of welcome emails with phonics ideas, and occasional updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Orders. If you buy a printable pack, we receive your name, email address and billing details needed to take payment and send your download. Card and PayPal details go straight to the payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
- Analytics, only if you allow it. If you switch on Analytics in the cookie banner, Google Analytics collects information about how the site is used, such as pages visited, device type and approximate location. We use it to learn which guides help most. If you choose “No thanks”, it doesn’t load.
- Pinterest tag, only if you allow it. If you switch on Marketing in the cookie banner, the Pinterest tag tells Pinterest when you visit a page, sign up for a free printable, add a pack to your cart (which pack and its price) or complete an order (the order number, number of packs and total), along with technical details your browser sends, such as your IP address and device type. We use it to learn which pins bring visitors and to measure any Pinterest ads. We do not use Pinterest’s “enhanced match”, so we never send Pinterest your email address or other contact details. If you choose “No thanks”, it doesn’t load.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages visited. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
We do not ask for, and do not want, information about children. Please don’t include a child’s personal details in a message or sign-up.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to make the site work, for example to keep a printable pack in your cart during checkout and to remember your cookie choice. Optional cookies (analytics and marketing) are set only after you agree. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to change your choice.
Who helps us run the site
We share personal information only with the services that run the site for us:
- Hostinger, our web host, which stores the website, its database and server logs.
- MailerLite, which stores our email list and sends our emails.
- Stripe and PayPal, which process payments for printable packs.
- Google, for Google Analytics, only if you allow analytics.
- Pinterest, for the Pinterest tag, only if you allow marketing. Pinterest may use what the tag sends to measure and show ads on Pinterest, under its own privacy policy.
Each of these services handles information under its own privacy policy. Some of them may store information outside your country. Our fonts are stored on our own server, so loading a page does not send your information to a font service. The “Save” buttons on our pin images are plain links to pinterest.com: nothing is sent to Pinterest unless you click one.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. The only advertising-related sharing is the Pinterest tag described above, and only if you switch on Marketing.
How long we keep it
- Messages: as long as we need them to reply and handle any follow-up, then we delete them.
- Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details.
- Orders: as long as the law requires us to keep sales records.
- Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics under our retention setting, then deleted automatically.
- Pinterest tag data: kept by Pinterest under its own retention rules.
- Server logs: kept and deleted by our hosting provider on its own schedule.
Children
This website is written for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in any email. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local privacy laws. To make a request, use the contact form.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the site changes how it uses personal information, and we will change the date at the top.
